Maryborough Branch Library
Central Highlands Libraries was formed in 2011 to provide a shared library services model for the region. Central Highlands Libraries and the City of Ballarat support library services for the following Councils: Ararat Rural City Council, Central Goldfields Shire Council, Hepburn Shire Council, Moorabool Shire Council, Pyrenees Shire Council and Southern Grampians Shire Council.
Central Highlands Libraries consist of 14 static libraries and outreach services. The services cover over 20,000 square kilometres and a population of approximately 182,000.
Branch libraries are located at Ararat, Avoca, Bacchus Marsh, Ballan, Ballarat, Beaufort, Clunes, Creswick, Daylesford, Hamilton, Maryborough, Sebastopol, Trentham and Wendouree.

Phillips Botanical Gardens
The Phillips Botanical Gardens is located in the centre of Maryborough and bordered by Napier Street, Inkerman Street and Alma Street. It features beautiful trees, shrubs and grassed picnic areas and is a favourite picnic spot.
The lake was originally a dam for the supply of water for gold mining. The botanic gardens was first planted in the 1870s. The lake has recently been redesigned to include a new wetlands area. It is also home to the growling grass frog which can be heard rather than seen.

A local destination, the Maryborough Railway Station is a fine example of historical architecture. Refurbished in the past decade, the Railway Station is a definite destination whilst in the area. An eclectic Cafe located in the old "Tea Rooms" is a wonderful spot to relive the past.

Prince's Park
The home of local football and cricket teams, Prince's Park is located close to the shopping area. The wonderful historic Grandstand has seen many spectators over many decades. Famous Maryborough Highland Gathering held on New Year's Day each year, has been a part of the community for more than 150 years. Features athletics carnival, children’s events and activities, Street March of Pipe and Brass bands, musical performances by bands throughout the day.

Energy Breakthrough
Energy Breakthrough comes to Maryborough every November. Teams of school children devote a year to creating vehicles to compete in the event. The program is unique in that all teams must compete across three areas of assessment: Design and Construction, Display and Presentation and Trials. Gold Prospecting
The Bendigo, Maryborough, Ballarat triangle is home of some of the most successful prospecting in recent times. Two large nuggets have been found in close proximity to Maryborough in the last few year. One group of prospectors is actively engaged in a television show highlighting prospecting around the country. Local company Coiltek run information sessions for novice prospectors.
